Given that the most precious quality of a diamond is its exquisite brilliance, we must make sure that it does not discolor, whatever the reason. For this, it is necessary to take a minimum of care of our gems.
The body oil, some soaps, cosmetic products and the dust encrust themselves in the interstices of the pieces that cover the surface of our diamonds so that they lose their brilliance and transparency. To avoid this, it is necessary to clean them frequently, once a month is recommended for normal use.
CLEANING
1- Place the parts in a 50% solution of water and ammonia. After half an hour, scrub the coins with a soft brush, rinse them in the same solution and leave them to dry.
3- It is also possible to clean your jewelry with a cleaning product that professionals use, while respecting the instructions indicated.
2- Immerse the parts for a few minutes in a soapy solution prepared in a neutral liquid detergent, brush them carefully with a brush with soft bristles (a toothbrush that is no longer in use) and try to reach all the places. Rinse thoroughly with water and then dry with a soft cloth, taking care to remove all water.
NOTE - It is common that when a ring is removed during cleaning, it falls into the sink. To avoid this situation, we recommend rinsing the coins in a colander. However, if the coin falls into the sink, you should immediately turn off the tap and empty the drain where the jewel usually stops. A good coin is worth the effort.
RECOMMENDATIONS
-
The best way to look after a piece of jewelry with diamonds is to avoid wearing it in certain situations: even if it is true that diamonds are resistant, a violent blow can cause them to shatter or chip. It is also important to make sure that they do not fall to the ground.
-
You certainly don't like to part with your diamond, but it should not be worn during hard manual work, sports or even dishwashing, as it could suffer and its setting could be damaged.
-
Pieces that are set with diamonds or other precious stones should be taken to the jeweler regularly, depending on their use (once a year or every two years for normal use). This small inconvenience will give you peace of mind, so your frames will be in good condition, because your jewelry will have been professionally cleaned.
-
To keep your diamonds in good condition, each diamond should be stored separately so that the different pieces cannot touch each other in the jewelry box.
-
Finally, in order to protect your jewelry, it is advisable to make an inventory of it and to check it from time to time. Your jewelry should be kept in a safe place and, above all, should not be forgotten when you take out an insurance policy.
